Another one will be held in Jan next year. The best night for me was the dress up Halloween night some of the costumes were great our facebook page has many of these
Warragul Indoor Biased Bowls Season 2023
This season we wisely decided at our AGM to have our social bowls on Tuesday so as not to clash with the outdoor Saturday competition. This allowed our Bowlers to play in both events. As a result, we saw many new faces giving carpet bowls a try whom previously played outside only
This brought our numbers up where we were averaging around 16 players each Tuesday. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves in a welcoming environment.
Unfortunately, in the season I missed quite a few earlier games as My wife and I having joined Probus whom they have many of their activities on Tuesdays. Also was away in June on holiday as well as competing in the Australian Bowls Open in the Gold coast. However, it did not have any adverse effect in the running of our events as we had many helpers. Will not mention names for fear of leaving someone out. But a huge thanks to all.
Financially we did well. The green fees were raised from $2 last year to $3 this year. The reason we can keep them so low is we do not have any prize money to winners. Our first game commenced on May 9th and concluded August 29th. During that time, we collected $693.55 from fees which was donated back to Warragul Bowls club as we use their tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and electricity.
Results of our championships

At the end of the season May Baldwin announced that she will be retiring from official duties but God willing still intends to play next season. We are indebted to May for her tireless work in running carpet bowls over many years.
The Future
The one thing most of us dearly miss is not having a Pennant competition like we used to. Perhaps we could explore the possibility of resurrecting to what was once a great event. We could run successfully even with only 6 teams. They do not necessarily have to all come from Bowls clubs. Ie Downtowner & Senior citizens as a couple of examples. With the number of players, we have two of the teams could be from our own club. Perhaps a green & Gold team.
Another idea worth considering is to have an evening competition like our outdoor corporate bowls. Having local Business or service clubs entering a team of 4 players. This would be a way of promoting our Sport during the winter months. Who knows we may even attract some new members as a result.
The hardest part in achieving the above is to find some willing helpers whom have the time into making it a reality. Most of us are getting long in the tooth and involved with so many other activities. But if we could pull it off could see many benefits come our way.
In Conclusion.
Thanks to Glad with the help of her Granddaughter. A great idea to have certificates made for the championship winners.
Also, to Warragul Bowling club in allowing us to use all the facilities.
Well done Bill for your idea of having an end of season lunch at the Warragul Country club which was a great way to conclude a good season.
Look forward to seeing you back next year.
Good Bowling

The West Gippsland Bowls Division Champion of Champion Singles finals and semi finals were held today at Traralgon Bowls Club (indoor green). Pat Hammond had an exciting semi final contest with Pat Fraser Aurisch (Neerim). It was great to see such a good game, with good tight heads, with Pat Fraser Aurisch winning the game 25/18. As usual there were plenty of Warragul bowlers at the venue showing their support and appreciation of such a good match.
Ladies A Grade Singles
This was held under sunny conditions with a Easterly wind of about 20kh
Pat Hammond and Glynis Mitchell battled it out for over 2 hours with the lead going back and foward for many ends
Pat gradually got on top in the last 4 ends with a final score of 21/25
The bowl heads the ladies put down were so tight that i was wondering can they keep this accuracy up
A final you could have paid for to see.
